Elise Christie was crowned European short track speed skating champion for the first time in Dordrecht after finishing second in the 3,000 metres super final.

The Livingston-born 24-year-old put her Sochi disappointment behind her to win gold in the 500m and 1,500m at the championships on Saturday and her result on Sunday ensured she became the overall champion.

Christie, who was disqualified from all three of her races at last year’s Winter Olympics, could not claim a hat-trick of gold medals, though, after being penalised in the semi-final of the 1,000m.
