David Florence and Richard Hounslow clinched their second consecutive Olympic silver in the men’s C2 category at the Whitewater Stadium in Rio on Thursday.

The pair finished second behind Slovakian cousins Ladislav and Peter Skantar and sealed silver when the final pair down, Frenchmen Franz Anton and Jan Benzien, failed to overhaul their time.

It is the second medal for the canoe slalom team after Joe Clarke’s superb gold in the men’s K1 category on Tuesday.

And it capped a superb recovery for Florence, who finished a disappointing 10th place in the men’s C1 final on Monday.

Fiona Pennie was set to bid for another Great Britain medal after qualifying second fastest for the women’s K1 final, set to take place later on Thursday.
