David Ferrer battled past Ivo Karlovic to book his place in the final of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha where he will face Tomas Berdych.

Spain’s Ferrer, who is seeded fourth, won three tie-break sets to reach the final for the first time in five appearances, with a 6-7 (2/7) 7-6 (7/5) 7-6 (7/4) victory.

“This pre-season I worked hard,” Ferrer told atpworldtour.com.

“I had one month of work with my new coach (Francisco Fogues), and I think we improved some details in my tennis, like the slice and my serve.

“Now I want to rest and to have a massage with my physio and be ready for tomorrow.”

Ferrer will face world number seven Berdych in the final after he defeated Andreas Seppi in much simpler fashion, 6-2 6-3.
