Former Warwickshire bowler Tom Allin has died at the age of 28.

The county sent their condolences to the family of Allin, who represented them until 2013 before returning to his native Devon.

A statement on Warwickshire’s website read: “Everyone at Edgbaston is immensely saddened by the news that former Warwickshire fast bowler Tom Allin has died.

“Tom was an incredibly popular member of the professional squad during his six years with Warwickshire, and he made one first class and one List A appearance before returning to his native Devon at the end of the 2013 season.

“The thoughts of all at Warwickshire County Cricket Club are with Tom’s family and friends, and we would ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”

The England and Wales Cricket Board added on Twitter: “We are sad to hear of the passing of Tom Allin. Our sympathies go to his family, friends and colleagues @DevonCCC & @WarwickshireCCC.”

It is the second time in recent days cricket has mourned a young player after the death of Sussex’s Matt Hobden, who was 22.
