Giles Clarke is set to become the next leading sports administration figure to appear in parliament, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The England and Wales Cricket Board president’s appearance in front of the House of Commons select committee for Culture, Media and Sport would follow those of Football Association chairman Greg Dyke and athletics’ Sebastian Coe.

A select committee spokesman told the Daily Mail: “The committee has decided to look into the conduct of the England and Wales Cricket Board in relation to the governance of international cricket, in the context of the other investigations it is currently undertaking.”

Clarke will reportedly be questioned about the International Cricket Council’s decision two years ago, at a time when he was ECB chairman, to invest extra power in the world governing body’s so-called ‘Big Three’ countries England, India and Australia.
