Hereford and majority shareholder Alan McCarthy have had their suspension from “all football activity” lifted by the Football Association after just a day.

The Southern Premier League club were suspended on Wednesday for failure to comply with the Independent Regulatory Commission’s owners’ and directors’ test, having been expelled from the Conference in June over unpaid debts.

McCarthy had been charged with acting as an officer of Hereford without written confirmation from the FA to do so.

Yet the issue appears to have been a largely clerical one, with the governing body requesting additional documentation which has since been provided.

A brief FA statement on Thursday night read: ” The suspension of Hereford United and Alan McCarthy from all football and football activity has been lifted with immediate effect.

“This follows their compliance with the orders of the Independent Regulatory Commission.”
