Seventeen-year-old Amber Hill will hit the road to Rio after claiming skeet gold in a marathon shoot-off at the European Games in Baku.

After both Hill and opponent Diana Bacosi hit the first 28 of their sudden-death targets, it was the Italian who buckled first and missed her 29th.

Hill stepped up to score with her final two shots and grab both the inaugural title and the Olympic quota place on offer to the winner.

With Great Britain team-mate Elena Allen having already booked a spot via the World Championships, the result effectively ensures Hill will go to Brazil.

The result marked a return to form for Hill who won the world title at the age of just 15 and was also crowned Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2013.

But she admitted she had struggled under the weight of expectation and missed out on the final at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
