Salford forward Gareth Hock has been given a six-match ban by the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary committee for foul play.

The former Wigan and England second rower was given three matches for each offence of reckless use of the knees during the Red Devils’ 52-6 defeat by St Helens last Thursday.

Hock was penalised for an illegal tackle on winger Tommy Makinson in the 53rd minute and then sin-binned for a repeat offence on prop Mose Masoe in the 61st minute.

Hock, who missed the end of last season after being given a seven-match ban for making deliberate contact with a referee, was also fined a total of £600 when he fronted a hearing in Leeds.

Catalans Dragons forwards Eloi Pelissier and Olivier Elima were both suspended and fined £300 after pleading guilty to foul play during Saturday’s 13-12 win over Castleford.

Pelissier was given a two-match ban after admitting a shoulder charge on Castleford prop Scott Wheeldon while Elima received a one-match ban for repeated punching.
