West Brom have received no enquiries from clubs looking to poach England forward Saido Berahino, according to head coach Alan Irvine.

The Burundi-born youngster has been persistently linked with so-called bigger clubs during his rapid rise to prominence, with reports this week claiming he wants a move in January.

Baggies boss Irvine is well aware there will probably be offers for the 21-year-old next month but insists there are none on the table at this stage.

“At the moment it’s certainly only speculation,” he said.

“We’ve had no enquiries whatsoever, so I’m not quite sure where the stories have come from.

“January will reveal what’s going to happen.”

Liverpool and Tottenham are the latest to be linked with Berahino, who has attracted unwanted headlines recently, with transfer rumours intensifying just weeks after he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

On the pitch, the Birmingham-bred youngster has been Albion’s best player by some distance, with eight goals making him their leading goalscorer by six.

“We may well get some offers for Saido and if we do, the club will deal with them,” said Irvine.

“The chairman (Jeremy Peace) has already said he does not want to sell Saido in January so I’m guessing nothing has changed as far as that is concerned.”
