Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is still in no rush to hold talks with coach Pep Guardiola over signing a new contract, although he is now more confident than ever that the Catalan will commit to the Bavarian giants.

Sunday’s 5-1 win over Borussia Dortmund saw Bayern open up a seven-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga after only eight games of the season.

No side have ever been so far in front at such an early stage of the campaign and Rummenigge believes that is another argument for Guardiola to want to stay in Munich.

But he is not going to put any pressure on the 44-year-old to sign a new deal.

“I’ve always said that we would sit down in the second half of 2015, and that leaves us still a few months,” Rummenigge said in quotes on Sport1.de.

“There’s a lot on the table which is pro-Bayern, and a game like this one is bound to make the coach happy too.”

Bayern’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has already put in a good word with Guardiola, telling him he would be happy if he were to extend his deal beyond the summer.

“You should never separate what belongs together,” Beckenbauer told Sky Sports. “It’s just a perfect fit.

“He’s very talkative and witty. His training sessions are like a show. His players could get a pass to their team-mates with a blindfold on.”

Guardiola recently left a press conference when pressed on his future, saying that he has already said everything he has to say on the subject.
