Injured seamer Katherine Brunt is included in England’s squad for next month’s ICC Women’s World Twenty20.

Brunt had to leave the ongoing tour of South Africa after suffering a back spasm, and was replaced by Natasha Farrant for three Twenty20 fixtures.

But England expect Yorkshire pace bowler Brunt, who has almost 150 caps for her country across all formats, to recover in time to travel to India for a campaign which will begin on March 17.

Twenty-year-old Kent left-armer Farrant, yet to feature in a global tournament, was also named on Wednesday in the 15-strong squad which will be led by Charlotte Edwards.

England coach Mark Robinson said: “It will be a great experience for all of the players selected – both those who have had this opportunity before, and for the likes of Tash Farrant, selected for an ICC global event for the first time.

“Tash really impressed during England women’s training camp to Sri Lanka before Christmas last year, and adds a different dimension to the bowling attack as a left-arm seamer.”
