Western Australia batsman Shaun Marsh has been added to the Australia squad for the rescheduled opening match of the four-Test series against India.

Most of the Australia squad flew from Coffs Harbour to Adelaide on Thursday following an emotional day in Macksville on Wednesday at the funeral of Phillip Hughes.

Shaun Marsh’s inclusion raises the possibility that he and Mitch Marsh could become the first set of brothers to play Test cricket for Australia since Steve and Mark Waugh in 2002.

A Cricket Australia statement on Thursday read: “The national selection panel has today advised that West Australian Shaun Marsh has been added to the Test squad as an additional batsman for the first Commonwealth Bank Test.

“The Australian Test squad will assemble in Adelaide (on Thursday and Friday) ahead of the first Test starting on Tuesday 9 December.”

Doubts remain over the fitness of captain Michael Clarke, whose recovery from a hamstring injury was put on hold after Hughes was struck in the neck by a bouncer in a Sheffield Shield match at the SCG last week.
