Teenager Adam Peaty broke the British 100 metres breaststroke record as he topped the time sheets in the heats at the world short course swimming championships in Doha on Wednesday.

Peaty, 19, set a time of 57.02 seconds, taking half a second off the time set by Michael Jamieson in Glasgow a year ago.

The Uttoxeter swimmer, who holds four European titles and two Commonwealth crowns, broke the world record over 50m (long course) in August.
