England have suffered a significant blow in their preparations for the ICC World Twenty20 after announcing Steven Finn has been ruled out with a strain to his left calf.

The paceman was expected to lead the attack in the forthcoming global tournament in India, despite missing the limited-overs legs of the recently-concluded South Africa tour due to a side strain.

However, the 26-year-old has suffered a fresh injury setback and his place has been taken by Yorkshire’s Liam Plunkett in the 15-man squad.

Finn posted on Twitter: “Really disappointed to have picked up another injury on my road to recovery. Gutted doesn’t describe it. Good luck to the guys out there!”
