Stuart Broad has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee after telling umpire Aleem Dar to ‘get on with the game’ on day four of the second Test against South Africa.

The incident occured in the 195th over of the Proteas’ marathon first innings in Cape Town, when England captain Alastair Cook was warned about Broad damaging the pitch by kicking it in frustration.

The International Cricket Council said the seamer showed dissent by twice telling Aleem Dar to ‘just get on with the game’ and charged him under article 2.1.5 of their disciplinary code.

Broad pleaded not guilty but but the charge was upheld by match referee Ranjan Madugalle in a hearing after Tuesday’s play.
