Hull half-back Marc Sneyd has been handed a two-match ban after being found guilty of a dangerous tackle on Leeds scrum-half Danny McGuire during Sunday’s 32-20 Super League defeat at Headingley.

Sneyd was charged with a grade D offence by the Rugby Football League’s match review panel but that was down-graded by an independent disciplinary tribunal to grade C when he appeared in front of them on Tuesday evening.

The suspension rules the former Salford and Castleford player out of Hull’s return clash with Leeds in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup quarter-final at the KC Stadium on Friday as well as next Wednesday’s re-arranged league game at Wakefield.

McGuire is also set to sit out the Cup tie but scans have cleared him of a break.

McGuire said on his Twitter account: “Thanks for all the messages nice and not so nice! Ankle’s pretty sore still but no long-term damage! It’s ankle I broke in 2013 so pretty protective of it.”
