Boxing Day’s Football League schedule has been hit by the weather as heavy rain in the north of England caused a raft of postponements.

The Sky Bet League One game between Blackpool and Oldham at Bloomfield Road has been washed out due to a waterlogged pitch, with inspections planned at a number of other grounds.

League Two has been the worst hit so far with games between Hartlepool and Notts County, Morecambe and Mansfield and Accrington and Carlisle all off due to waterlogged pitches.

It is the third successive home game for Stanley which has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and comes just days after boss John Coleman criticised the Football League for allowing Carlisle to play three ‘home’ games at other venues after their Brunton Park ground was flooded.

Meanwhile, officials at Wetherby have called off both days of their Christmas fixture following flooding at the track while this afternoon’s meeting at Limerick has also been abandoned.
