Wigan’s attempt to bounce back from last season’s relegation to Sky Bet League One starts with a 2015/16 opening-day trip to Coventry.

The Latics have suffered two relegations in three years following a lengthy stay in the Premier League and Gary Caldwell will be hoping his men can get off to a winning start at the Ricoh Arena on August 8.

Nigel Adkins’ reign at Sheffield United begins with a lengthy trip to Gillingham, while Burton’s first ever game in the third tier starts with a visit of Scunthorpe.

Millwall and Blackpool, who also suffered the drop last season, head to Shrewsbury and Colchester respectively, while promoted sides Bury and Southend also hit the road to face Doncaster and Fleetwood.

There are local derbies as Crewe host Port Vale and Chesterfield welcome Barnsley, while Swindon hope to bounce back from last season’s play-off final defeat by seeing off Bradford at home.

Walsall’s home clash with Oldham and Rochdale against Peterborough complete the opening-day line-up.

Adkins’ first game at Bramall Lane sees Chesterfield make the short journey along the A61, while Wigan will begin their home campaign against Doncaster on August 15.

Coventry are expecting to flourish under Tony Mowbray and they face an early test as they head to Walsall for a local derby on August 22, the same day Burton host Peterborough.

It is a case of friends reunited on October 17 as best mates David Flitcroft and Keith Hill come face to face when Bury host Rochdale, with the return fixture on March 12.

October 17 is also the day Swindon fans will pick out as in a division full of sides based in the north, their trip to Millwall – registering at 84.5 miles – is their shortest away journey of the campaign.

Blackpool meet Fleetwood, just seven miles apart, for the first ever time in a league match on November 28th and it will be an emotional day for Adkins on December 19th as he takes the Blades to Scunthorpe, the club where he made his managerial name.

There are a number of stand-out fixtures on Boxing Day as the two pre-season promotion favourites – Wigan and Sheffield United – do battle at the DW Stadium, and there are derbies between Colchester and Southend and Doncaster against Scunthorpe. Bury boss Flitcroft pits his wits against his former club Barnsley for the first time.

The Tykes are the opposition for Wigan on the final day of May 8, while Adkins will be hoping to be celebrating promotion against his former club as the Iron visit Bramall Lane.

Coventry visit Oldham, it is Bradford against Chesterfield and Gillingham host Millwall.

Burton’s maiden League One season ends with a trip to Doncaster, Bury and Southend battle it out at the JD Stadium, Colchester host Rochdale and Fleetwood welcome Crewe.

Peterborough will be hoping this is the year they get back to the Championship and they finish off at home to Blackpool, Port Vale welcome Walsall while Swindon and Shrewsbury meet at the County Ground.
