Princess Beatrice has started a finance course in the US, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The Duke of York’s eldest daughter is following in the footsteps of her younger sister, Princess Eugenie, by heading overseas to America. Eugenie has a job with an online auction house in Manhattan.

Beatrice, 26, has come under fire in recent weeks for the number of holidays she has taken with boyfriend Dave Clark since leaving her post at Sony Entertainment Pictures in December.

Sixth in line to the throne Beatrice was spotted skiiing in Verbier and taking time off on the Caribbean island of St Barts.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: “Princess Beatrice has started a finance course in America.”

It is not known where Beatrice will be studying, but the short course means it will not be a permanent move to the US for the Queen’s granddaughter.

Her mother, Sarah, Duchess of York, has a long-standing love of America – a country known for its fascination with the British Royal Family.

Earlier this year, the Duchess turned to Stateside television shows to publicly demonstrate her support for her ex-husband, the Duke of York, over allegations in the US that he had sex with an under-age teenager – a claim which Andrew strenuously denies.

Sarah has also been promoting a £65 food blender in America as helping with weight loss.
