James Corden’s US chat show is up for a prestigious TV award only weeks after its launch.

The comic and actor, who took charge of The Late Late Show on CBS in March, is shortlisted for the best talk show in the Critics’ Choice TV Awards along with more established names Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.

Also on the list is Graham Norton, with the Irishman’s chatshow running on BBC America.

Co rden, who is relatively unknown in America, ha s taken over from Scottish-born Craig Ferguson and moved to Los Angeles with his family to make the show.

BBC drama A Poet In New York, about the death of Dylan Thomas, is on the shortlist for best movie made for TV and Wolf Hall could be named best limited series.

One of its stars, Mark Rylance, is nominated for best actor in a movie or limited series along with fellow Brits David Oyelowo, James Nesbitt and Michael Gambon.

Two more members of the Wolf Hall cast, Jo nathan Pryce and Claire Foy, are nominated for best supporting actor and actress respectively.
