The Duchess of Cambridge will carry out a range of engagements today from attending a coffee morning to formally opening a leisure centre and an academy school.

Kate will spend the day in the London borough of Kensington and will begin by attending a coffee morning at Family Friends, a voluntary organisation providing befriending and mentoring services to families in deprived areas of the borough.

She will chat to families and meet trained volunteers who provide practical and emotional support to parents and children.

Later the Duchess will formally open the nearby Kensington Aldridge Academy, a new school for pupils aged 11 to 18 in the heart of north Kensington.

Kate will meet governors, staff and students, tour the new building and watch part of a lesson.

Students will stage a dance performance for their royal guest and she will tour the Creates Hub for young entrepreneurs, and meet students who are designing items for sale at the nearby and well-known Portobello Road Market.

The final engagement of the day will see the Duchess formally open the new Kensington Leisure Centre.

During her visit Kate will tour the facilities, including the swimming pool, gym and sauna, and watch groups of children from nearby primary schools playing various sports in the centre’s main sports hall.
