Channel Tunnel high-speed train company Eurostar is showing off its new 200mph train today.

The new fleet is called e320 as the trains are capable of travelling at 320kph (200mph).

The trains can carry up to 900 passengers and are able to operate on rail networks throughout Europe.

The launch in London comes on the eve of Eurostar’s 20th anniversary. The trains are made by German company Siemens, which is building a set of 10 in a £550 million deal.

The arrival of the new fleet will mean Eurostar services can extend further into Europe, with the e320s due to begin serving the London-Amsterdam route from 2016.

Speaking about the new trains recently, Eurostar chief executive Nicolas Petrovic said: “Over the next two years our customers will see a complete transformation of our service as we upgrade and enhance every stage of the passenger journey.

“By making a substantial investment in our fleet, we are sending a strong signal about the ambition for the business and our commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for our passengers.”
