A 60-year-old man is to go on trial today accused of the murder of his wife, whose body was found in a car.

Pierre Legris is accused of killing Rui Li, 44, a nurse, last May and he also faces a charge of bigamy.

Standing trial alongside him at Winchester Crown Court are his son, Jonathan Legris, 26, who has been charged with assisting an offender, and Irene Smith, 65, who denies perverting the course of justice and a charge of assisting an offender by impeding his apprehension or prosecution.

Ms Li was last seen alive by her 18-year-old daughter, Lu Yao, at their home in Burnham Drive, Bournemouth, Dorset, on the evening of May 23.

Her body was found inside a Fiat Punto in Verwood Crescent, Bournemouth, on May 30. An inquest heard that she died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Ms Li moved to the UK from China a decade ago and had worked at the hospital since 2009.
