A man has been charged by police after threats were allegedly shouted at two teenage female Army cadets, including a reference to beheading.

Marius Dura, 26, of no fixed address, will appear in court on Monday charged with threatening behaviour.

Dura, who is Romanian, and a second man were being hunted by police after they allegedly subjected the girls to violent threats as they left an Army Reserve centre in Gateshead on January 21.

The two men left the country and Northumbria Police alerted Interpol.

Dura was arrested in the UK today after returning to the country, police said.

He will appear at Gateshead Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
