A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after having acid thrown in his face.

The 29-year-old victim was attacked in his home in Truro, Cornwall on December 9. Devon and Cornwall Police are treating the assault as attempted murder.

Officers were called to a property in Carrine Road following reports of an acid attack. Police, ambulance and fire service attended the scene and the victim was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro with facial injuries.

The man, who has not been identified, remains in a critical condition.

Police are keen to speak to the driver of a red Peugeot van seen in Carrine Road around the time of the incident.

Detective Inspector Sharon Donald, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who saw any unusual people or vehicles in the area yesterday, in particular a red van.

“If you are the driver of the red Peugeot van seen in the area, please get in touch with police so we can eliminate you from our enquiries.”

Officers have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries, handing out leaflets and patrolling the area to reassure residents.
