A man will appear in court today charged over the murder of a missing woman who was found dismembered in a flat.

Christopher May, 50, will appear before Pontypridd Magistrates Court in connection with the murder of Tracey Woodford, 47.

Ms Woodford, from the Pontypridd area, was last seen by family at about 12.45pm on April 21 and reported missing the following day.

A police officer searching a flat at Andrews Court, Rickards Street, Graig, discovered her dismembered body just before 3pm on April 24.

May was charged by South Wales Police yesterday.

“South Wales Police have charged a 50-year-old man called Christopher May in connection with the murder of Tracey Woodford,” a force spokesman said.

“A post-mortem has been carried out but officers are awaiting the results of further forensic tests to determine the cause of Tracey’s death.

“Officers investigating the incident are continuing their appeal for witnesses.”

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen Ms Woodford in the Skinny Dog pub between 9pm and 11pm on April 21.

Ms Woodford is described as around 5ft 7ins, with shoulder length ginger hair and was wearing a black cardigan when she was last seen.

Her family released a tribute through police yesterday, describing Ms Woodford as “very kind-hearted and a selfless person”.

“Tracey was liked and loved by all of her family and friends,” they said.

“She was very kind-hearted and a selfless person who would go out of her way to help anyone.

“Tracey was a gentle person who would not hurt anyone and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.”

Anyone with information should contact the incident room by calling South Wales Police on 101, quoting reference 140670 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
