A recovery operation is likely to be launched today after the remains of two people and the wreckage of a light aircraft were found in Argyll.

Searchers made the discovery at 8pm yesterday after a multi-emergency response was launched earlier in the day.

Emergency services were alerted when radar contact with the plane was lost at around 1.50pm in the Beinn nan Lus area of Glen Kinglass.

Police Scotland confirmed the wreckage of an aircraft was discovered on the northern aspect of the Glen Kinglass area.

The remains of the two people on board were also discovered.

A police spokesman said it was likely the recovery operation would begin today, subject to conditions.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, and a nyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact police via the non-emergency number 101.
