Soldier faces sex assaults trial

An army sergeant accused of sexually abusing female recruits will stand trial today.

Edwin Mee, 45, of Tavistock Road, Croydon, south London, allegedly targeted 11 victims aged between 15 and 25 on military bases.

The Scottish soldier denies 17 counts of sexual assault, three rapes and one count of assault by penetration.

Mee is said to have carried out the assaults while working as a recruitment sergeant.

His trial is due to begin at Southwark Crown Court in London today.
