Stepson charged over nurse’s death

The stepson of a nurse found dead in the boot of a car has been charged with conspiracy to murder and is due to appear in court today.

Rui Li ‘s body was found inside a Fiat Punto, in Verwood Crescent, Bournemouth, on Friday May 30 having been last seen alive a week earlier.

Ms Li’s stepson 27-year-old Jonathon Legris and 66-year-old Irene Erosa Smith, both from Bournemouth, have been jointly charged with conspiracy to murder, Dorset Police said.

They are due to appear at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court today .

Ms Li’s husband and Jonathon’s father, Pierre Legris, 60, appeared in court in early June charged with his wife’s murder and has been remanded in custody.

Legris senior is accused of murdering the 44-year-old at his home in Burnham Drive, Bournemouth, between May 22 and May 31.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned and the cause of death was given as blunt force trauma to the head.

Ms Li was last seen alive by her 18-year-old daughter, Lu Yao, at their home in Burnham Drive on the evening of May 23.

The nurse was captured on CCTV earlier that day as she drove out of the car park at Poole Hospital in her Porsche Boxster car after finishing work.

Ms Li moved to the UK from China a decade ago and had worked at the hospital since 2009.
