A new Conservative poster is go ing up on billboards across the country tonight and tomorrow morning which shows a wrecking ball with “Don’t Let Labour Wreck It” slamming into the slogan “A Recovering Economy”.

The advertisement was designed by M&C Saatchi, which has a long history of working with the Tories.

Party chairman Grant Shapps said: ” Conservatives came into office with a simple mission – to rescue Britain’s economy and build a better future, by cutting the deficit, backing businesses and creating jobs.

“That plan is working, we are on the way to full employment, a job for everyone who wants one. But the recovery is fragile, it could be crushed by Labour’s wrecking ball. Ed Miliband is hellbent on spending, borrowing and taxing more, meaning chaos for hardworking families.

“So, today our message is simple: Britain’s on the right track, don’t turn back.”

Shadow Treasury chief secretary Chris Leslie said: “The recovery has failed to reach kitchen tables across Britain. While a few at the top have been given a huge tax cut, working people are £1600 a year worse off under the Tories.

“Labour’s better plan will boost living standards, save our NHS, back the next generation and balance the books fairly.

“The Tories have an extreme plan to cut spending back to 1930s levels, before there was an NHS, which would put our public services and our economy at risk. Working people can’t afford five more years of the Tories.”
