A woman injured in the Boston Marathon bombing has told jurors that she and her husband each lost a left leg, and she eventually had to have her other leg amputated too.

Jessica Kensky entered the Boston courtroom in a wheelchair today to give evidence in the trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev .

She described the chaos after the blast, and told how she remembers trying to shield her husband from seeing his leg.

She said she did not realise she was on fire until a man pushed her down and began extinguishing the flames.

Ms Kensky said her left leg was amputated just after the 2013 bombing. Her right leg was amputated in January.

Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured in the blast.

Tsarnaev’s lawyer acknowledges he committed the crime but says his older brother recruited him.
