A rare Siberian tiger released into the wild by Russian President Vladimir Putin is keeping farmers in north-eastern China on edge.

The official Xinhua News Agency said the tiger, named Ustin, had killed 15 goats on Sunday and Monday on the same farm in Heilongjiang province’s Fuyuan county.

Xinhua said farm owner Guo Yulin is concerned about the threat posed by the animal.

Ustin was one of three Siberian tigers released by Mr Putin in a remote part of the Amur region in May. Two of them have entered China. They are monitored by Chinese wildlife workers and fitted with tracking devices.

The other tiger, Kuzya, is believed to have raided a farm and eaten five chickens last month in another Heilongjiang county.
