South Dakota high school principal wounded in shooting

The principal of a South Dakota high school has been wounded in a shooting at the school.

School officials say a student suspected in the shooting is in custody and other students are reported safe.

The superintendent of Harrisburg High School, about 10 miles south of Sioux Falls, says Principal Kevin Lein suffered a flesh wound.

Superintendent James Holbeck said the suspected shooter is in custody. District administrative assistant Tracy Heiden added that all students are safe.

Lincoln County Deputy State’s Attorney Ross Wright said the suspected shooter is a student.

The school is in lockdown. Parents have been told to stay away from school premises.
