A Swedish man is 10 million US dollars (£6.2 million) richer after winning the final hand at the World Series of Poker’s no-limit Texas Hold ’em main event.

Martin Jacobson, 27, won the top prize with three 10s to his opponent’s pair of nines after outlasting nine final players during about 16 hours of play over two days in Las Vegas.

The poker pro who got his start in online games had never placed first in a tournament before but had got close.

This was the first time he had turned his 10,000 dollar (£6,200) buy-in for the main event into a spot among the “November Nine” who returned this week after outplaying about 6,700 players over the summer.
