Two people are reported dead after a raid on a suspected terrorist cell in Belgium.

The RTBF news website says two people were killed during Thursday’s raid in the town of Verviers, and quotes a witness describing explosions and detonations near the railway station.

Flemish broadcaster VRT said two were killed, one injured and one arrested.

The official prosecutor and police couldn’t immediately confirm the reports.

The prosecutor will hold an emergency news conference. It comes the week after attacks in neighbouring France that killed 20 people, including three gunmen who attacked satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, a kosher market and police.
