Two Palestinians have been killed in clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank, a Palestinian health official said.

It is the latest escalation in two months of violence in which 14 Israelis have been killed, mainly in stabbings.

At least 81 Palestinians have been killed, of whom Israel says 51 were involved in assaults. The rest were killed in clashes with security forces.

On Saturday I srael arrested a Palestinian suspect in the killing of two Israelis in a drive-by shooting in the West Bank on Friday.

The Shin Bet internal security service said forces also seized a weapon and vehicle used in the shooting.

It said the suspect admitted to involvement in the attack, which killed a rabbi and his son who were driving with family south of the city of Hebron.

Palestinian health ministry spokesman Mohammed Awawdeh said three Palestinians were wounded in the dawn violence today, when Israeli troops entered the Qalandia refugee camp.

The Israeli military said troops entered Qalandia to demolish the home of a Palestinian who it says shot and killed an Israeli in the West Bank this summer.

The army said Palestinians opened fire at the forces who returned fire at the attackers.

The military said three “hits” were confirmed. It was unclear if a third Palestinian was killed.

Palestinian officials said one Palestinian at the scene was taken into Israeli custody.

The military said hundreds of Palestinians attacked Israeli forces, throwing firebombs and rocks.
